Festival Film Salutes Courageous Wounded Warriors
Thank You to Charlottesville’s Daily Progress journalist and former Special Forces soldier David Maurer for his feature story A Tribute To Resilience about our film Wounded Warriors’ Resilience.

WOUNDED WARRIORS’ RESILIENCE
A short documentary film about the extraordinary sacrifice and inspiring resilience of brave American men and women in uniform who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11, been wounded, and are role models of the human capacity to overcome adversity.
Directed by Jay Lavender, Produced by Col. Randall Larsen (Ret) & Jay Lavender & Dickie Morris for NSPYR • GoodBlood in association with Wounded Warrior Project. Executive Produced by Stephen Flynn & Sean Burke with generous support from Talisman Energy. The film premiered on September 8th at the 9/11 Tenth Anniversary Summit: Remembrance, Renewal, Resilience at the Newseum in Washington, DC.
The Summit kicked off a national movement to foster community and national resilience in the face of future crises. Visit Road2Resilience.org to join the campaign to build a more resilient world. It was an absolute honor to meet our Warriors and help share their stories. We enjoy the freedom of working to make a living as storytellers thanks to the men and women who risk their lives protecting our nation…
In WOUNDED WARRIORS’ RESILIENCE we attempt to shine a light on our Warriors that reflects our immense gratitude for their service & sacrifices.
Fueled by NSPYR:
We’ve created GoodBlood as an arm of NSPYR to celebrate real heroes.
Inspired by our family, friends, neighbors & coworkers who dedicate their lives—even risk their lives—to protect, serve & heal us…
We’re finishing up our first few projects—including the short inspiring documentary Wounded Warriors’ Resilience premiering at the Newseum in Washington, DC—and will be sharing them soon…
Thank You to all who have served and continue to serve us!
An amazing day with Soldier Ride & Wounded Warrior Project in NYC for NSPYR.
Last week as temperatures climbed into the triple digits, a group of Wounded Warriors rode their bikes on a 15 mile trek that took them from the middle of Manhattan, through the streets of New York, by Ground Zero, over the Brooklyn Bridge and into the neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
As a producer with NSPYR — I was honored to photograph the ride, and humbled by the soldiers who rode proudly through the heat and the sweat. Please stay tuned for more on the 9-11 Tenth Anniversary Wounded Warriors Tribute documentary.
And please consider visiting the Soldier Ride and Wounded Warrior Project websites for more information…they are incredible organizations with reaches beyond measure.

Big H Lavender plays his hands: Stars and Stripes Forever
Some of my favorite/funniest memories of my Dad were when he played his hands like a trumpet. While any special occasion could spark a Big H serenade, 4th of July parades & fireworks were his favorite times to blast out some marches.
Thank You to him, as well as my Great-Grandfather, Grandpa, Uncle and Cousin for their service during WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Afghanistan & Iraq…
And Thank You to all who serve and have served our country.
Happy 4th of July!
My Aunt Chris Bubany makes these happy, patriotic handpainted earthenwares…
Day 185: Or as as my Aunt Chris says…”Home of the free, BECAUSE of the brave!” A very special thank you to all our troops near and far, present and past for doing what you do for our country! Happy 4th of July!
Thank You Wounded Warrior Project & Walter Reed Army Medical Center

What if civilians also lived by these creeds?
Am so grateful for today’s visit, Wounded Warriors’ Recovery & The 4th of July.
